Walt
First, I want to say " Hello ". I'm Walt, the creator of this site. It is my desire to bring honor and dignity to the men and women depicted on these pages. They have contributed much time, energy and effort to the Legion Post 70. Many have done all that was asked of them by their country in a time of war. To them, I salute.

Sandra
This is Sandra, she is a member of the Legions' Auxiliary, she has volunteered to do all the transcribing of information onto the " Gold Book " Pages. What a fine job she has done!! What a great gal she is, for wanting to participate in this project!! When you see her, tell her so.
Thanks, Sandra, I owe you one...........Walt
The Womens' Auxiliary, God bless 'em, they are tireless in their efforts to assist in any way. They have not only donated a bit of cash towards the Goldbook project, but they also are helping to gather info & pictures of Service men & women who are going to be added to the up-dated section of the book. Many thanks gals !!

This is Gary, ( the one with the rifle ), he makes sure I do things right! Like the military designation numbers on all Army Vehicles and any Ribbons or Awards shown on the site.
I think he may have a ' live' one in the chamber.
A special salute goes to Del, for his kind words of appreciation, his spreading the word about this site and  orders to " Carry on, complete your duties as Webmaster".
Below, is an excerpt from one of his letters about this site......
A  "thank you very much" goes out to 1st Sgt. Jerry Chambers, (along with a salute from a swabby), for suggesting the new area on our site containing Pictures of our men & women of the military " in action" from overseas.
Greetings:

Late yesterday I took the liberty of informing my Scholarship Local Selection Committee there in Oberlin and the Recipients and Parents about the Web Site that you have produced.   I have also informed the same group in the McCook area.     This morning I had six messages concerning the Web Site address that I would like to share with you.

# 1   From Joe Quade  the Editor of our Thunder From Heaven Publication.
"del;    WOW    what a great biography....I am impressed beyond words.   is it possible to get a copy of the bio package?     i'd try to get it off my printer but  i don't think it would do it justice..  i'd like a copy to show my
two children, my friends, and school associates  - to let them know who i am currently associating with  'YOU'
airborne  joe  quade"

# 2   From Ed Siergiej, Secretary 17th Airborne Division Association.

"Del,

Just finished viewing your Service Record on the Legion's website.
What a fine "document" !!  The pictures and the musical touch really added another dimension.  Many thanks for  sharing it.  I would hope that more of
our members would have the opportunity to view it.

Ed

#  3  From Mrs Beryl Linders the Daughter of the Family I stayed with as a Student at K-State.

" Hello There,
I was messing around with my computer and I DID pull up your military career-What a write up-is certainly something to be very proud about-too bad we don,t have more Americans like you.
I did of course bring it up, but I don,t know how I did it-can,t seem to do it again-I'll see if I can figure it out later.
Just wanted to know that I did get it up.
Beryl

#  4   From Jerry Simmons a retired Army Colonel and fellow Army Aviator.

#  5  From  Paul Nelson A very loyal Veteran from the 1st Infantry Division.

"That is really great.  I'm a bugler/trumpet player, so I like the picture at the end.  I also liked the picture of you as a wrestler.  I'll never mess with you.

# 6  From Nathan Harsh a Townsend Scholarship Recipient who graduated fro the University of Nebraska in 2003.
"I got a chance to check out the website tonight.  I am very impressed with how everything was put together.  Very very impressive service record as well.  I saved the web address in my favorites.  Thanks for sharing.
Sincerely,
Nathan

Walt I never dreamed that I would receive this kind of a response from the Townsend Scholarship Family and the 17th Airborne Division Association.    Believe me "Every kind word and compliment should be given to you'.
Sincerely,
Del Townsend
