| Hello Dear Visitors,
I have lived in Decatur County all my life. I graduated in 1950 from Decatur County High School. My membership in the Auxiliary has only been 5 years, but during that time, I was active in everything the Auxiliary did for Veterans, Servicemen, youth and community. Having family members who served their country enabled me to appreciate our Veterans and Servicemen & women. The various projects we worked on for them made me proud. When I became President, I knew very little of what was expected of me, but lots of help from members, I was soon in it with both feet! |

Some of our projects I found inspiring
were : A program on Poppy Day, given to the
sixth graders; Our sponsoring girls to Girls
State and Scholarships to 2 senior girls.
Our young people are so important, as they will be our leaders of tomorrow. Presenting Blue Star Banners to families in our community who had loved ones in the Armed Services. (Yes, I remember these same banners from WWII. It was a sad task but an honor to give one with a GOLD STAR on it. Monday night Bingo was sometimes a ' hassle ', but so good to see the players each week. We had great help with donations of food and assistance which made the money for our projects. |

| I would just like to stop and say, " Thank you " to Commander Gary Allen, his wife Carol, Cmdr. Walt Pennell and Auxiliary member Lois Lamb for helping me through those four years. Also to all the members and Post Officers who have helped to make the Auxiliary so sucsessful. They were always willing to assist me when I needed them. |
