    Donald D. Scott passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007, at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin, Kansas, at the age of 80. He was born October 19, 1926, in Decatur County, Kansas, to George Henry and Gladys (Waldo) Scott.
    Don was reared on the family farm northwest of Oberlin. He attended East Liberty Grade School and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1944. He then served in the United States Army during World War II with the 25th Mechanized Calvary Reconnaissance Troop APO 25.
    On October 5, 1950, Don was united in marriage to Alene Krhek in Oberlin. They made their home on the farm where Don was born and raised. Two sons and a daughter were born to their union, and they were also blessed with seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
    Don continued the family tradition of farming and ranching in Decatur County many years until his retirement. 
    He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Oberlin American Legion Post #70, and Antique Car Club. His hobbies and interests included Indian motorcycles, airplanes, car racing, and hunting for arrowheads with best friend Calvin Ufford.
    Survivors include his wife Alene of the home; three children, Lee Don and Melanie Scott, Oberlin; Mark Scott, South Sioux City, NE; and Kay and Rick Danburg, Grand Island, NE; a half sister, June Vavroch, Hays; sister-in-law, Karon Scott, Oberlin; grandchildren: Danielle Becker (Justin); Britton, Chanelle, Bronson, and Rachelle Scott; and Natasha and Ciarra Danburg; and one great-granddaughter.     He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roland "Rollie" Scott on Janury 11,2001. ...
